Give your home a fresh new look and stay within your budget..

I love these books and can’t wait to get this rug under my table. There are many great resources for the novice home decorator so don’t be afraid to take a look in your local library or purchase one my favorites. You can create a simple inexpensive decorating plan by doing what is often call cross buying.

Decide on the theme or color scheme that is pleasing to you and that fits your lifestyle. Use catalogs and magazines as a resource and have fun tearing pages apart to create your “room” on paper. Develop a budget and time-line to purchase things as money allows. For instance recycle or give away all the things that will not have a home in the “new room”. Painting the room will give you clean canvas and costs little when done yourself. If you’re not comfortable doing that check with the local Chamber of Commerce or friends for a good painter. But trying it yourself will save money and might allow a sense of accomplishment at the same time.

Then buy the window treatments, wall murals, carpets, and any large pieces one at a time. Maybe you want a pricy little waste paper basket. Buy that one week and a lamp the next.

Purchasing your items once a month leads to the same end. Take your time and have fun with it. You’ll be surprised how you can create the very look that you thought was way out of your budget. Just take one step at a time to create your personal habitat. Express yourself and your style. Your home should reflect your inner self.

Start here or in the library. Just promise yourself to achieve the look that you know reflects the unique person you are. You can do it! Don’t forget art for your walls!

WIDOW’S WALK: Misty Cove Series by Nikki Leigh

I met Nikki Leigh author of Widow’s Walk a couple of years ago at a BookEm event in Waynesboro, Virginia. We were seated next to each other and she was a delight. Her outgoing personality and enthusiasm was infectious. The cover art on her books evokes a sense of beauty and mystery at the same time.

The product description:
“Lizbeth is a woman of uncommon strength and determination and that’s one of the things that her husband William, loves about her. When an unexpected turn of events cuts Lizbeth’s happiness short, that strength is tested in ways she never imagined. Her children are growing up in a time and place where death and loss are a common part of life. While she struggles with her own fears, she must help her children find their way through an uncertain future. Lizbeth keeps an almost obsessive vigil from the lighthouse catwalk. This makes her the ideal choice for the new lightkeeper for the Stormy View lighthouse. She must decide if she’s ready to move forward. Misty Cove residents are concerned about whether Duncan, the assistant lightkeeper, is hiding a dark secret? What long-buried secrets will challenge Lizbeth as she makes the journey through the pages of Lady Lightkeeper?”

In addition to designing websites and being a partner in a construction firm near Albemarle County of Virginia Nikki also runs a small consulting business promoting authors. Widow’s Walk comes highly recommended as one can see by reading the reviews on Amazon.

Marquetta Mitchell featured speaker during December’s Women Celebrating Women

“Women Celebrating Women began as a way to showcase a Front Royal jewelery artist’s work and grew to a regular get together honoring the talents and work of a new woman each month.” said Marcy McCann author of Chelsea’s Tree and the group’s founder. Originally planned to run for six months the group proved so successful that it is moving into a new year with no end in sight.

Guests bring a snack to share while coffee, tea, and cake are provided by McCann. All women are welcome to attend at 6:00 PM the first Sunday of each month. The group meets at 234 West King Street in Strasburg at the office building of LtdPrints.com. Call 540-465-3878 or email Marcy@LtdPrints.com for further information.

Castle Murals and Castle Posters Murals for Children

Need to add a little color to your life. How about trying a custom wall mural!

Castle Murals and Castle Posters can add life to your home or office. Have you ever thought of adding a bit of color to a dark room or a faux window to a basement but just didn’t know where to start? We found the perfect solution.

Try using one of LtdPrints.com’s many bright mural options such as an aircraft mural, or one of their castle or wildlife murals. The newest castle mural is a photographic mural using an image taken by Connecticut photographer Michael Cavaliere. Set against a misty sky with the vivid greens of trees and the gold tones of the masonry this castle mural has a depth of field that truly makes one feel as if they are standing outside the castle ruins.

A family tree story for blended families.

Chelsea’s Tree gets rave reviews.

I was thrilled with the whole concept of this book. It not only shows that a child of divorced parents have a larger world of people that are their family, the idea of their having their own special photo albumn is fabulous. I highly recommend this book for any one who has a child in their life that has step parents, cousins, multiple grandparents, etc. Wonderful!
