Women Celebrating Women Featuring the Art of Diane Rasmussen
By Marcy McCann
Have you ever run across something or someone that you just have to share with others? A situation that merits attention, that calls for recognition, that fills a need. When that happens it’s hard to move on or too be selfish with your time. You feel compelled to let people know about the person or thing that has made such an impression.
That is exactly what happened to me this past Easter while having dinner at the home of Rich and Diane Rasmussen in Front Royal, VA. I’d joined them for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners so on this third visit when I once again found myself looking at Diane’s beautifully made jewelry art I said “Diane you really ought to sell this.” She replied a bit timidly that “People always suggest that but I don’t know how to go about it.” Being an incessant marketer I immediately volunteered to get her started with her first “home party”. While typing out the email invitation it came to me that this was bigger than one woman and one talent. It was now for me about all women and the showcasing of their talents. From that realization the six month series Women Celebrating Women (WCW) was born.
On May 3rd the first meeting was held showcasing Diane’s wearable art made from semi-precious stones. An investments and financial advisor with Watts Financial Group Diane proved that a woman can be both intellectually capable and artistically creative. Although she has been designing jewelry art as a child it was only three years ago that she began to work with stone. She explained “Rose Quartz is the stone of unconditional love and infinite peace. It is the most important stone for the heart and heart chakra teaching the essence of love. It purifies and opens the heart at all levels.” Some of the women present that evening knew of the energy emitted from stones. Others were amazed to learn that “Amethyst is an extremely powerful and protective stone with a high spiritual vibration. It has strong healing and cleansing powers and enhances spiritual awareness.”

Elaine Shaw of Edinburg briefly demonstrated the power of magnets and teased the group with a promise to preform shoulder massages at the August WCW meeting. The meetings are held the first Sunday of each month in the same building as LtdPrints.com 234 West King Street, Strasburg, VA. Women Celebrating Women gatherings are open to all women.
